Why Early SaaS Projects Are Often Foundered Before Launch?
Most early-stage products are killed by their foundations.
The pattern is predictable. A stack is selected in haste, and the marketing site looms large with no search architecture to support it. There is no obvious onboarding, so trials fail to convert, and pricing was written against a business model the company has since outgrown.
It takes until month six to retrofit the comings and goings of the service, another quarter to rework the billing, and yet another to re-engineer URLs. In effect, two more quarters are devoted to busywork that should’ve been decided in sprint one.
Having seen this pattern play out too many times, we began to scope our builds like general contractors.
We think about the SaaS product in terms of a foundation, and what should be built upon it: each supporting detail designed to carry the next big release, and every feature scoped to a business outcome clearly stated.
What “Growth Built In” Actually Means
A traditional build thinks about shippable product features, and commercial infrastructure is bolted on later.
In our process, we start with an understanding of growth levers as soon as the first sprint begins - we know from day one that you will need to acquire users, drive trial conversions, reduce churn, and be found in AI search, so we design around those prerequisites.
Search-friendly architecture is prioritized in day one deployments, including URL structure, dynamic sitemap generation, meta tag management, schema markup, and Core Web Vitals optimization, all developed in coordination with our Technical SEO team.
Onboarding is designed to maximize activation and trial-to-paid conversion, not just to get users to the app and have them leave.
Billing infrastructure is built according to your specific monetization strategy - Stripe/Paddle integration, transaction processing, usage-based billing, plan creation, trial setup, and dunning - all in accordance with your commercial playbook, not a generic template.
Analytics are embedded from the start – product analytics, funnel visualization, cohort analysis, and retention metrics – so you can optimize launches in real-time.
Security and regulatory compliance are designed in from the beginning, including GDPR data design principles, SOC 2 control integration, OAuth and SSO security frameworks, and penetration testing.
These are all typically post-launch initiatives for agencies, but we regard them as indicators of project completion.
How Long a Build Takes
An MVP with 10-15 core features takes 3-4 months to build. A mid-complexity MVP with multi-tenancy and integrations and moderately complex billing takes 4-6 months. A high-complexity, SOC 2 aligned app with complex permissioning takes 6-9 months.

Who We Build For
A Good Fit For
- Founders with market fit who want to accelerate their launch
- Post-seed/Series A companies that need to build faster
- Established businesses that want to productize their offering
- Non-technical founders with deep expertise in their domain but no engineering track record
- Agencies that want to build their own SaaS product for their clients (white-labeled).
Not A Good Fit For
- Pre-Validation ideas (no matter how beautiful they sound on paper)
- Template-based or no-code approaches (we do not build production-grade apps in Bubble)
- Budgets below $25,000 (we do not do discovery sprints below 12 weeks), or solo contractors that want to outsource their work to us (we do not resell our services).
If it’s not a fit, we’ll tell you during the discovery call and help you find someone better-suited instead.
Our Solution Stack
We have strong opinions where it matters, without being married to any particular solution.
| Layer | Our default stack |
|---|---|
| Frontend | React, Next.js, TypeScript, Tailwind CSS |
| Backend | Node.js, Python (FastAPI or Django), Go on performance-critical systems |
| DB | PostgreSQL as a first choice, Redis for caching, MongoDB or DynamoDB if they’re a better fit |
| Hosting | AWS, GCP, or Vercel with Supabase as an option for budget-friendly hosting |
| Containerisation | Docker, Kubernetes (if needed) |
| Auth | Clerk, Auth0, NextAuth, or a custom OAuth2 implementation |
| Payments | Stripe as a first choice, Paddle, Lemon Squeezy |
| Analytics | PostHog, Mixpanel, Amplitude |
| Monitoring/Sentry | Sentry, Datadog, LogRocket |
| Resend, Postmark, SendGrid |
Unorthodox or custom solutions are always on the table if there are valid reasons to consider them, and we’ll always present the options along with trade-offs beforehand.
How the Build Runs
01. Discovery and Strategy
Validation refresh, competitive positioning, scoping, architecture/stack decisions, and a sprint plan delivered as a scope document for your approval before engineering starts.
02. Design and Prototype
Design system, interactive prototype, testing against that prototype, and design QA - signed off before dev starts.
03. Dev Sprints
Working software at each milestone, a demo every two weeks, and deep engineering collaboration throughout.
04. QA and Launch Prep
Security auditing, performance, search, and accessibility testing, staging sign-off, and deployment infrastructure.
05. Launch and Growth Activation
Analytics instrumentation, production deployment, first month of growth, QA, and on-call coverage through launch week.
06. Post-launch iteration
Bug fixes, performance, iteration, scale support, and growth experimentation.
Book a Free Discovery CallBook a Free Discovery CallWhere We Are Different
While most development agencies stop at “the product works” - the point where commercial problems begin.
Our builds include:
Search Architecture thought through during development, not two quarters after launch.
Onboarding and conversion funnels designed alongside the product.
Post-launch growth flywheel via our Full SEO, SaaS Link Building, and AI SEO services, managed by the same team.
No handoffs between strategy, design, engineering, and SEO, as we are fully in-house.
Eliminating the guessing games about when marketing can launch, since they are embedded from day one.
Transparent process with weekly demos, realistic timelines, and no hidden work or budget creep.
We are not the only agency that can build your product. We are the one that is right for you if you want to focus on design and engineering while another team takes care of growth, or if you want to build something that wins not just on the product, but distribution too.

Frequently Asked Questions about SaaS Product Development
Product development from concept to launch, including strategy, design, full front-end/backend development, billing/register architecture, analytics, and security compliance. Research architecture and growth levers are designed-in from day one.
A standard project takes 3-6 months to deliver, depending on complexity and third-party dependencies. We operate on a rapid development cycle (sprints) and have production features every two weeks: a carefully selected MVP takes about 4 months to build.
We program everything from scratch on standard technology stacks: PHP/Python back-end, React.js front-end. We do not develop productivity apps on no-code platforms.
You can: We offer a research audit as an initial service to identify opportunities and threats and develop a fitting business plan for you. We cannot proceed to work on your product without your explicit consent.
The scope of work includes SEO and growth features, which are implemented from day one: We design the proper URL structure, schema.org markup, sitemaps, robots.txt, follow web KPIs, and other SEO best practices. That being said, this requires a separate budget allocation for a rapid growth development session.
In most cases, we work on a fixed-price basis for rapid development sprints, with complex multi-platform sprints billed hourly with weekly reviews and approvals. We also offer a fixed-price contract for post-launch product support and updates.
SOC 2 implementation is standard for all enterprise projects: we design a HIPAA-compliant architecture individually for each project and work directly with your auditors if needed.
Depending on your needs and budget, we offer a fixed-price support contract, a delivery service option (for in-house product teams), or an overall growth service transition.
We support web app development: we can launch a PWA or React Native apps; however, iOS/Android native app development is out of our scope, which would require a separate outsourcing service.
We can set up a discovery call and share a few cases (unfortunately, we cannot provide public links due to our client NDA policy).
Founders get preferential treatment. We only do fixed-price MVPs with clearly defined deliverables, removing any pressure to retainers.
We’re very picky about the projects we take on.
We decline all requests for pre-validation initiatives, no-code rebuilds, or budget figures below $25,000 – because building products is a serious business that requires a serious investment of time and money. With Ranklur, there are no surprise costs, missed deadlines, or retained profits.
